The Observatory is far lighter on CPU and battery — it idles at a lower frame rate, stops animating while hidden, and no longer redraws or refetches on every mosaic change.

Reviewing git changes no longer slows down the rest of the app, even with thousands of changed files, and pushing or pulling no longer freezes the UI.
Terminals no longer start with garbled scrollback when pane lights are enabled.
The activity sidebar's lower sections now grow to fill available space instead of staying cramped while empty space sits above them.
